About Eric Swenson

Workforce strategist, author, and speaker – Eric Swenson is acknowledged as a leading expert on management and leadership. His work with businesses throughout North America has led to improved performance, stronger employee engagement and greater customer satisfaction.

His first book, “Managing People in the 21st Century“, was published in 2004, and is being updated for a re-release in January 2019. His most recent book, “The 5 A’s of Great Employees,” helps managers and executives identify current and potential employees by identifying contemporary attributes that today’s businesses need to significantly improve their profitability.

A sought-after speaker, he speaks frequently to organizations and conferences on topics ranging from leadership and management, to workforce trends and issues. He has conducted seminars for organizations like the California Society of CPA’s and the California Bankers Association, to graduate programs at UC Irvine and Santa Monica College. He is the lead consultant for the Executive Development Program for the Western Bankers Association in San Francisco.

He is the Founder & Managing Director of RSJ/Swenson, a human resources and workforce development firm serving more than 250 businesses in North America. Those businesses range from start-ups to established companies with over 1,000 employees. Virtually every industry is represented in RSJ/Swenson’s portfolio. He founded his firm in 2003, and merged it with the CPA firm of Rose, Snyder & Jacobs in 2008.

He has managed hundreds of employees and interviewed thousands of job candidates in his career.

Prior to launching RSJ/Swenson, he was the Los Angeles District Sales Manager for Paychex, a Fortune 1000 company providing payroll and human resources solutions to small businesses.

He also spent 14 years with the Automobile Club of Southern California, having advanced from sales agent to senior management. His last position at the Auto Club was Group Manager for Sales Development, leading over 250 managers, agents and representatives who sold memberships and insurance products. While at the Auto Club, Mr. Swenson spent several years in marketing and training, where he specialized in management development.

He was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Arcadia, California. An Eagle Scout, he is a graduate of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, where he majored in English and communications and was Student Body President at the College of the Pacific.

He’s currently developing groundbreaking new talent management programs such as “The Destination Employer,” co-authored with renowned ethicist Michael Josephson, and “Understanding Next Generation’s Global Workforce,” with New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Kushell.

Mr. Swenson is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, the American Society of Training & Development, and the American Management Association. He is a Past President of the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles and Santa Monica, California, where he received the club’s Trumbull award in 2011.
